Having an Industrial Design background this video was something I could really appreciate. This guy is very firm on his opinions which shows his true passion for his work. This video took me back to the memories of design classes and they way they taught us to think and to really hold to our thoughts and visions. They weren’t just ideas… they were beliefs and passions.
I think that one of my favorite quotes of all time (regarding design) comes from this guy. If you know anythign about design or other forms of creativity I think you would totally be able to relate. I’d love to get some feedback on this! So let me know what you think.
Here is that quote:
“I don’t pay overtime. Overtime is the passion of design, so join the club or don’t.”
I am very intrigued by this idea of a single material and object existing as both structure and skin, both aesthetics and functionality: the fact that nature has already prepared the groundwork for an idea about humans living in the same way they are already structured. Being conventional and relying strictly on the vernacular is not necessarily as "natural" as some may have assumed!
Wow….extremely interesting. I don’t know much about design, but I can definitely appreciate what this guy has to offer. It kind of blew me away a bit, but I was definitely digging it! Very true about the comment you made on this guy being passionate about his work. Too bad there aren’t more people like that. It definitely showed through in that speech…"f*** em’", right on brother!! I really like this dude! He’s a pretty refreshing guy, I’d say!
