Photo Shoot: Louisiana Artist Portrait – Mary Ellen Hathorn

October 21st, 2010 1:57 pm

Yesterday evening I had the opportunity to do a commercial photo shoot for Mary Ellen Hathorn of My Pair Tree, a local Lafayette Louisiana artist. Mary Ellen is a painter as well as inventor My Pair Tree. My Pair Tree is a one-of-a-kind hanging shoe rack for flip flops and sandals which really helps keep your closet and shoe spaces organized.  The product is super popular and was even featured on the Today Show.  One thing that I really love about Louisiana commercial photography is being able to work with such amazing local artist. Crucé Design, another Lafayette local, is working on a website redesign for her.  We did a photo shoot for the web site design and product details for the online shopping cart.  A portion of the photography was dedicated to taking portraits of Mary Ellen.  I’m typically not at liberty to post right away when it comes to commercial photo shoots. I was so pleased with this image and was super eager to get something posted that I made a special request and was able to get approval for a quick post.  Here is one of my favorite portraits from the shoot.

Photo/Video Shoot: RISE Mission Retreat Video

September 28th, 2010 3:09 pm

This summer I had the opportunity to attend and shoot the RISE Mission work week retreat.  For the retreat I shot stills and a few video clips to produce a documentary of the week. I spent the week shooting alongside Daniel Kedinger who also produced a separate video as well.  This video was shot all on the Nikon D3 for stills with short motion clips shot on the Nikon d90.  Audio was captured with the Zoom H4N.  It was a fun week.  Check out the video.

I had the great honor to shoot bridal portraits for my sister Courtney this summer. Courtney married Tyler LeCompte this July. She was a beautiful bride and had such an amazing ceremony.  I hope the best for these guys and looking forward to seeing our family continue to grow.  Here are a few of my favorites from her bridal session.

Photo Shoot – Crucé Design @crucedesign

September 8th, 2010 9:00 am

Well… If you didn’t already realize it, Daniel and I had parted ways almost two years ago (snif…).  Don’t worry, it wasn’t a nasty separation! I left Crucé and wen’t solo with graphic design and photography and Daniel continued with our love child better known as Crucé Design who also provides graphic design services and web development.  Daniel and I still work together on several projects and we also still get to hang out pretty often.

I did a shoot for Daniel for some updates and a fresh look at his space. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

New Orleans Photog Shootout Behind the Scenes Video

September 7th, 2010 9:00 am

I had the opportunity to teach a workshop with several other great photographers, in New Orleans back in February. The other instructors were Jason Cohen, Beebe Tran, and Mark Eric.  It was a really fun day!  Here is a behind the scenes video shot by Dyle Films from our day.

My Image in the Leica User Forum Book for Cancer Research!

August 6th, 2010 11:48 am

I had the great honor of having an image of mine published in the Leica User Forum Book along with many other great photographers.  The purpose of the book is to raise funds for Leica’s charity AICR (Association for International Cancer Research).  This opportunity has meant a great deal to me because my father was diognosed with cancer several years back.  Through cancer research he has recovered and is doing great.

If you are interested in helping support the cause you can do so by purchasing the book HERE.  The book is available for anyone to buy and AICR will receive £5 from each copy sold. So far over £7,000 has been raised just from the entry submissions alone!  Click here for a Thank You post from Leica’s Blog.

Here are a few images of the book and the image of mine that was published.  Unfortunatly they misspelled my name, but for the cause I guess I can let that slide :).  The last name reads “Orilion”, but needs to have two “L”s and read “Orillion”. Better luck next time I guess.

Camera: Leica M6
Lens: Voigtländer 28mm f1.9
Medium: Film – Ilford HP5+ ISO400
Location: Harbor Island in the Bahamas.

Enjoy!

“This photo book – the proceeds of which are being donated to the AICR (Association for International Cancer Research) – is an extremely successful illustration of the passion and dedication of a rather special Leica community. It leaves no doubt whatsoever that our customers are the best.”

Photo Shoot – St. Ann Catholic Church

August 5th, 2010 9:29 am

I feel like I keep starting my posts with “several months back”, but it seems that must just be the nature of how most posts are going to happen.  Things are busy which is great, but it makes it so much harder to post.   I can’t post all projects, and choose not to post others (just to be honest).  Most of my commercial work however typically coin-sides with a launch of a campaign or something of that nature so I have to wait a bit to post.  This is such the case with this shoot.  I had a shoot for St. Ann Church in Mamou, La. which was used in the design and content of their recent website launch.  You can check out their website HERE.  The site was developed by my buddy Daniel over at Crucé Design.  Here are a few of my favorites from that day.

Enjoy!
